Due to overnight temperatures forecasted this week at our central Pennsylvania greenhouse, we will have to move out the shipping date for your brassica plants to ensure their health on their shipping journey. How to store an elephant ear bulb for the winter.

  1. Carefully dig up the bulb after the first frost, do not damage the bulb.
  2. Cut off any remaining foliage, the bulbs can be rinsed to remove soil but do not scrub them.
  3. Let the bulb dry in a warm dry dark place for a week, making sure there is good air circulation.
  4. Store bulbs in a cool place for the winter in dry peat moss, perlite or vermiculite. 
  5. Check on bulbs every few weeks and toss out and rotting or infested bulbs.
