How do I make my cut flowers last longer in the vase?

This is called conditioning the flowers. To condition your flowers, you should follow these steps:

  1. Bring a bucket of warm water with you when you cut flowers and put them in the water as soon as they are cut.
  2. It is best to cut them at an angle.
  3. Let the flowers sit in the bucket in a cool shady spot. Keep plants out of the sun for a few hours or overnight.
  4. Adding some cut flower food will extend their life.
  5. Make a fresh cut to the stem at an angle when you move them to their vase.
