Why is the bottom of my tomato fruit deformed?

This is called Catfacing and is a physiological disorder. It was either cool or wet the day of fruit set and the fruit was not able to form properly. This usually only occurs on the early fruit. Once it is warmer out, you don’t see it very much. If you cut away the bad parts, it is fine to eat.

You can also send us a picture of the fruit in question to [email protected] for our horticulturalist to provide some feedback.
